Time Off

Directed by Eytan Fox1990Israel45 mins

Time Off is the first Israeli film to deal seriously with homosexuality in the military. Set at the outbreak of the 1982 Lebanese war, it is really the sentimental education of a young soldier who breaks away from the bravado of his comrades for an afternoon in Jerusalem. A comic encounter with some American girls and a glancing try with a female soldier cannot prepare the shy lad for the discovery of his most macho Lieutenant in a gay embrace.
