Frameline Fangs on Location

Join us for an evening of queer horror films at California State University, Monterey Bay programmed by us! Frameline Fangs Goes on Location!

By going on location outside of San Francisco at CSUMB, we decided to build upon some of the highlights of Frameline Fangs 2021 for the 2022 program. HeBGB TV is a playful feature film adaptation of one of our favorite shorts from last year’s Fangs, 1-888-5-BLUE-YOU. And we couldn’t resist taking the opportunity to finally show The Demons of Dorothy in all of her horrific splendor on the big screen after only streaming it last October. This double feature perfectly blends campy humor, queer spirit, and inventive visuals into what we’re sure will be a frightfully fun time.

When: Thursday, October 27, 7pm // Student Costume Contest at 6pm
Where: CSUMB World Theater – 5260 6th Ave, Seaside, CA 93955
Tickets: Event is free, and open to the public. RSVP required.

HeBGB TV
Directed by Eric Griffin, Jake Mcclellan, & Adam Lenhart | 2022 | USA | 78 mins

Expanding upon their irreverent monster phone sex operator short 1-888-5-BLUE-YOU (Fangs 2021), directing trio Eric Griffin, Jake Mcclellan, & Adam Lenhart hands us the remote to not just Monster Girl’s channel but an entire haunted cable box for HeBGB TV. A pair of young siblings find an unwanted guest accompanying the cable box they mistook for a pizza: a ghoulish tour guide named Purple Boy who has an array of spooky channels curated just for them. What ensues is a wildly entertaining anthology of high camp, snappy musical numbers, vomiting puppets, skeleton stand-up comics, monstrous meltdowns, inventive DIY effects, and a demonic lesbian date night… all in the spirit of trash TV! Don’t change that dial!

The Demons of Dorothy (Les démons de Dorothy
Directed by Alexis Langlois | 2021 | France | 28 min

In neon eye-popping splendor, director Alexis Langlois, one of France’s most enticing queer filmmakers, introduces us to aspiring filmmaker Dorothy (Justine Langlois) and her wild, hallucinogenic visions of a demonic queer fantasia. As she attempts to write the screenplay for her latest opus Biker Chicks in Love, her artistic vision becomes compromised by an army of her personal and professional demons—from greedy producers, her nagging mother (Lio), and even her cinematic rival Xena Lodan (Dustin Muchuvitz) who all threaten her buxom utopia.

For those who can’t make our Monterey edition of Frameline Fangs, you can stream The Demons of Dorothy at home with a subscription to MUBI, Shudder, or AMC+. And for a deeper dive, all three platforms have another of Langlois’ shorts available: Terror, Sisters! (De la terreur, mes sœurs!), which stars Dorothy‘s Justine Langlois, Dustin Muchuvitz, and Raya Martigny alongside Félix Maritaud (Knife+Heart, Sauvage).
