Cheers, Queers: Frameline at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival

This year, Frameline is thrilled to co-sponsor two events at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. In collaboration with GLAAD, the foremost LGBTQ+ advocacy organization focused on media representation, and NewFest, New York’s leading LGBTQ+ film and media organization, Frameline will co-host the second annual “Cheers, Queers” event.

A discussion panel and party, “Cheers, Queers” uplifts queer filmmakers and amplifies the festival’s LGBTQ+ films and creatives. This year, “Cheers, Queers” will feature a segment called “Raising Our Voices” as well as a “Trans Stories and Storytelling” panel with filmmaker Zackary Drucker (Enigma), who gave the keynote address at Frameline48’s Industry Day, and actor Aud Mason-Hyde (Jimpa).

Headed to Park City? Come hold space for queer media with Frameline! “Cheers, Queers” is slated to take place at Sundance’s Acura House of Energy on Friday, January 24th from 3–6 PM MT.

A few days later, Frameline will co-host a mixer at Sundance with two exciting and vital industry partners: The Film Collaborative (TFC), the first nonprofit focused on film distribution-education, and NewFilmmakers LA (NFMLA), a nonprofit that provides a forum, platform, and resources for filmmakers. The event will be held at Relevant Galleries on Sunday, January 26 from 5–8 PM MT.

In order to break down barriers and create a more equitable landscape for filmmakers, The Film Collaborative educates creatives about film distribution — without taking rights. TFC’s clients’ projects include Agniia Galdanova’s Queendom (Frameline47), Kimberly Reed’s Seat 31: Zooey Zephyr (Frameline48; Jury Award winner for Outstanding Documentary Short), Shiori Ito’s Black Box Diaries, and Natalie Rae and Angela Patton’s Daughters.

The mixer’s other co-host, NewFilmmakers LA, “champions emerging and diverse filmmakers and storytellers from around the world,” all while providing a forum discussion, connection, and recognition.
