We're excited to keep you in the loop on all things Frameline (with no spam - ever!)
A casual one night stand between aspiring young actor Matias (Gabriel Faryas) and high-profile political hopeful Rafael (Cirillo Luna) opens a Pandora's box of lusty power play and public sex. For their scorching third feature, directing duo Filipe Matzembacher and Marcio Reolon (Hard Paint, Frameline47) explore the themes of Rainer Werner Fassbinder with the slick veneer of Brian DePalma to resurrect the lost art of the erotic thriller for our contemporary queer era.
In Night Stage, Matzembacher and Reolon fashion a recognizably modern world where public figures are no longer forced into the closet. With a shared proclivity for outdoor fucking and the thrill of getting caught, Matias and Rafael discover their connection happens to be the only remaining taboo for both a mayoral candidate and the star of major TV series. As pressures mount and dares escalate between the two, the phantoms start to emerge from behind Night Stage's curtain, revealing the danger in surrendering to desire… and the paradoxical perils of getting what you want.
