We're excited to keep you in the loop on all things Frameline (with no spam - ever!)
Writer-director-star Michelle Ehlen returns to Frameline having previously presented her comic trilogy Butch Jamie (Frameline32), Heterosexual Jill (Frameline37), and S&M Sally (Frameline39). Here Ehlen turns her focus to the serious side of relationships, heartbreak, and memory, though we’re still treated to her infectious laugh and one excellent drag performance.
Recently separated from her wife, photographer Jay sets out on a cross-country road trip with just a duffel bag and an ancient flip phone. Breaking up the journey with a stay with her childhood best friend Jess, Jay finds herself lingering in a town that’s not her own, distracting herself from sadness and a stream of bittersweet memories. While divorcée Jess begins to date again, Jay pals around with Tommy, an amateur standup comic who turns out to be much funnier offstage. But with her first crush often in the next room and the love of her life a constant presence in texts, Jay knows she can’t hide in limbo forever.
