A newlywed singer recently transplanted from New Orleans, Bertie (radiant newcomer Idella Johnson) is having trouble adjusting to her sultry surroundings and a new language—she’s emotionally adrift and has even stopped singing. To lift her spirits, Bertie’s concerned husband Fred (Lucien Guignard) encourages a visit from Lane (Hannah Pepper-Cunningham), hoping to recapture the free-spirited relationship that they all used to share.
