Frameline Talk: Making Art in Vulnerable Times and Communities

60 mins

The documentary Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters chronicles the transformative power of a dance piece — created more than 30 years ago — as both an artistic repose to the trauma of AIDS and a meaningful statement in our own time. How does art-making — whether dance, theater, or film — make a difference in the lives of vulnerable communities, and how might we turn to the arts to help make sense out of the multiple crises we have lived through in the past year? Hear the perspectives of artists making work in the midst of — and responding to — tumultuous societal challenges.
