Fun in Boys’ Shorts

Jonny McGovern and Team Pimp kick off one of the Festival’s most popular programs with Somethin’ for the Fellas (That Like the Fellas). In Serene Hunter, a randy gay Parisian moves in with his new boyfriend— just as an old flame from L.A. comes back into town. Next, an encounter with a young deaf man forces a 41-year-old to face his future in today’s youth-obsessed world in signage. Love Is Love muses on how life might be for hets if the world were totally gay, and they were the “queer” ones. Life is sweet for an out, hip Columbia University student — until he’s called back home to the Iowa farm in Heartland, while bright-eyed, 18-year-old twin brothers arrive in Hollywood with the age-old dream of becoming stars in Color Me Olsen.

Friendlessness, suburban complacency and prescription drugs have conspired to make this little Timothy Higgin’s worst year yet. Musical chairs and birthday cake can’t save him now as he prepares for a show-stopping suicide in The Saddest Boy in the World. Finally, in the hilarious GROUCHO, Enrique gets hit on by his 16-year-old neighbor David, and Enrique’s partner and David’s parents all manage to find out in no time.
