Replay is a moody story of passion and deceit that will constantly keep you guessing. When they were girls, Nathalie (Béart) and Louise (Bussières) shared a passion for the theater. But Louise's obsessive crush on the vivacious Nathalie eventually destroyed the friendship. Ten years after a bitter parting, Nathalie is living in Paris with her playwright-boyfriend, Matthias (Dani Levy), and pursuing a career on the stage, while Louise runs a dental prosthetics business with her husband, Nicolas (Sami Bouajila).

When Louise unexpectedly encounters Nathalie performing in a play, hidden passions are awakened. She pays Nathalie a nervous visit backstage, and soon she is following the tour of the play to Copenhagen, under the guise of attending a dental convention with Nicolas. Thus unfolds the drama, as Louise satiates her repressed desire to act by overly involving herself in Nathalie's blooming career.

As the subtle yet sensual foreplay between the women turns convoluted, Louise, transfixed by Nathalie and her theatrical pursuits, begins to lose touch with reality.
