Trevor offers a compelling portrait of an “about-to-be queer” junior high school boy, circa 1981. As he unabashedly discovers his own gayness, so do his school friends, marking the painful point that often gay people are “outed” by peers much earlier than expected. Inspired by the Trevor Project — a suicide prevention nonprofit for LGBTQ+ youth — Peggy Rajski's film won the Academy Award for Best Short Film - Live Action and the Teddy Award for Best Short in 1995.
