North of Vortex

Directed by Constantine Giannaris1991UK/Greece58 mins

A gay poet, a bisexual sailor, and a straight waitress embark on a trip through an American desert landscape in this languid, woozy road movie. The poet wants the sailor, the sailor wants the waitress, the waitress wants the poet. Jealousy and violence ensue. Backed by a twangy jazz score and shot in dreamy black and white, this strange romance recalls the work of novelist Jack Kerouac. North of Vortex is the first feature by Greek auteur Constantine Giannaris.
