The San Francisco International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival pays special tribute to James Broughton — a leading poet, author, and filmmaker for over forty years. His unique style blends visual imagery with poetic insights in films that often challenge while they entertain. Many of his films are stunning celebrations of male homosexuality in terms both explicit and ethereal.

James Broughton's most famous short film captures the various activities of people around the same bed.

Men in pairs, mostly naked, perform various sensual tasks together.

A series of naked tableaux vivants that glorify the human body.

This 11 minute homage to the male member shows its subject in the various stages of erection. The voice-over poem by James Broughton includes the line "This is the secret that will not stay hidden."

This is a cinematic performance piece enlivened by its experiments in poetic speech and poetic vision. Joel Singer creates a multi-faceted portrait of poet James Broughton acting out his verses in unlikely situations and surprising camera inventions.
