Frameline Denounces Anti-AAPI Violence

Frameline stands united with our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. We see that demonstrations of hate against AAPI communities have swelled during the COVID-19 pandemic. We acknowledge that our 45-year heritage organization is built squarely on the backs of the full spectrum of our vibrant community, including our AAPI queer sisters, brothers, and siblings. And we know that any attack on one of us is an attack against all of us.

The mission of Frameline is to change the world through the power of queer cinema. This includes the interrogation and dismantling of this country’s systems of oppression that have plagued AAPI queer lives since the moment they came ashore. Since our inception, we have worked to amplify the voices of the marginalized and excluded. It is now our imperative to center our AAPI queer siblings and allies.

To our AAPI families, friends, and neighbors: We see you. We hurt with you. And we will do what we can to uplift you, champion you, and heal together.

Those with the ability and means to do so: Reach out to the AAPI community members in your circles. Join a rally in support of AAPI lives. Volunteer at a community group to improve AAPI local safety. Contribute to an AAPI-supportive charitable organization. While none of us can do everything, each of us can do something.

Frameline stands with you, today and always.
