No Hard Feelings
A young German-Iranian raver forms an inseparable bond with two Iranian immigrant siblings over the course of a summer, as threat of deportation looms and a secret romance becomes too explosive to contain, in the winner of the prestigious Teddy Award at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival. Parvis (a radiant Benjamin Radjaipour) whiles away his youth in voracious party mode, alternating between dancing in clubs and going out on sexually acrobatic Grindr dates. But even at the raves he’s made his safe havens, Parvis struggles to belong.
When Parvis meets Amon (Eidin Jalali), a newly-arrived Iranian immigrant living in a German shelter with his sister Banafshe (Banafshe Arezu), the trio become immediately inseparable, barreling through night till morning, finding in each other the home they’ve been lacking. Filmmaker Faraz Shariat draws from his own experiences and elegantly weaves them into his exuberant, heartfelt, and slyly funny debut that is above all a love letter and tribute to a generation of displaced youth finding their place in the world.
