Part fairytale, part romantic comedy—and featuring a terrific breakout performance by lead Sophie Hawkshaw—Monica Zanetti’s delightful feature debut is a hilarious and sincere exploration of first love and the family legacies that live inside of us throughout generations.

Overachiever and high school captain Ellie goes beyond other people’s fears and limitations. She claims her power and moves beyond all limits. At least that’s what her daily affirmations will have her believe. In reality, while the rest of her class is performing big romantic gestures asking one another to the formal, Ellie fumbles at the mere thought of talking to the girl she has a crush on. Unable to fully confide in her mother, Ellie puts her faith in signs from the universe to guide her. Imagine her surprise when the sign comes in the form of her long-dead aunt, Tara, reappearing only to her to help her navigate the awkward travails of coming out and falling in love.
