Tamar Tal’s prize-winning documentary tells the story of 96-year-old Miriam, the remarkable widow of Czech-born Israeli photographer Rudi Weissenstein, as she and her grandson Ben defend their Tel Aviv photo studio from demolition. While it reveals a separate family tragedy tied to Miriam’s daughter, Ben’s mother, the movie ultimately becomes a love story spanning three generations. Moving montages of Weissenstein’s prints also eloquently depict Israel’s earliest years.
