Member Spotlight Questionnaire

June 16, 2012

Check out this Member Spotlight Questionnaire with Olof Hansen!

Who are you and where are you from?

My name is Olof Hansen and with that name you'd be surprised to read that I was born in the heartland of America, the Midwest, actually in Columbus, Nebraska. I have lived in Wisconsin, DC, Minneapolis, Berlin, Bonn/Germany amongst other places. I have lived in SF since 1989.

How long have you been a Frameline member?

For too long too admit, don't want to come across as an old fart. Let's say I met Michael Lumbkin when he doing the festival in DC.

What do you look forward to in the Festival and what makes you keep coming back?

I love seeing films from abroad and since I lived in Berlin I also look forward to seeing German GLBT queer films. Boys in Shorts (video/virtual/celluloid) brings me always back and seeing boys in short (real, if the weather is warm enough)!

What's the most fun / craziest / exciting / life-changing moment that ever happened to you during the Festival?

Meeting folks who I ran into another queer film festival in Lisboa, Portugal.

If, for one day, you could meet / be / date one character from queer film history, who would it be and why?

Would love to meet with Rosa von Praunheim, German director.

In one sentence, what does Frameline mean to you?

Runs the best queer film festival in the world and supports the creation of diverse new films.

When you're not enjoying queer film, what else do you do?  (You can talk about your job, family, hobbies, other work in the community, etc.)

I am a Castro ambassador welcoming guests, visitors, travelers to the Castro village as a volunteer with the neighborhood district.
