Staff Pick: I Want Your Love

Today's Staff Pick comes from Volunteer Coordinator Intern, Anand Vedawala.

I Want Your Love

This very sexually explicit yet mature feature, expanded from a 2010 short, tells the unflinchingly honest story of an emotionally conflicted San Francisco performance artist during his final sex-drenched, soul-searching days before moving back to Ohio.

Here's what Anand had to say about the film:

"Travis Mathews’ I Want Your Love is unlike any gay film I have seen: it’s highly introspective, honest and the work just feels new, modern, progressive. The direction focuses on intimate scenes that explore characters’ personal insecurities, pleasures and the emotional confusion of new, old and unforeseen relationships. The film is a character study of 30-something Jessie’s last few days in San Francisco before he moves back to his parents’ house in Ohio, leaving behind his friends and the artistic life he has created for himself in the Bay Area. The acting is natural and nuanced, the dialog is honest and incisive, and the sex is realistic, uncensored, humorous and erotic. Definitely erotic.

I highly recommend this impressive film and believe it's going to be very influential to gay cinema. I'm looking forward to Mathews' next projects and excited about visiting his previous works."

I Want Your Love screens Sunday, June 17th, 9:30pm at the Castro Theatre.
