Queer Films in the San Francisco Underground Short Film Festival
November 09, 2011
Our friends Peaches Christ and Sam Sharkey over at the San Francisco Underground Short Film Festival are preparing for a one-night stand of some of the Bay Area's most entertaining short films!
The SFUSFF hits the Victoria Theatre on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 with ACT 1 beginning at 7:30pm and ACT 2 (Shorts After Dark) at 10:30pm. Tickets are $15 for each individual program, $20 for both and Peaches Christ Fan Club members will receive a $2 discount offer.
The 2011 San Francisco Underground Short Film Festival (SFUSFF) hosted by Peaches Christ and Sam Sharkey celebrates the underground, overlooked, avant-garde, and ultra outrageous films of the Bay Area. SFUSFF has run since 2003 as the concluding event of the Midnight Mass screening series, which began in 1998.
The following selections are specifically queer related. You can check out the complete program at the SFUSFF website!BUGBABY (Rebecca Lorenne) – Mink Stole stars as an uptight social worker who shows up to evaluate Sammy Gregory, a ’special needs’ child. His parents are understandably at the end of their rope. They invite a social worker over to see if their baby can possibly be adopted to a more capable family.
JASON MECIER DOES AMY SEDARIS (Marika Kontoudakis) – This short documentary follows San Francisco artist Jason Mecier as he constructs a mosaic portrait of comedienne Amy Sedaris. Jason’s materials came from of a box of craft supplies she sent him, left over from her recent craft book.
LOVE & ANGER (Brian Benson) – Fo local drag debacle Cousin Wonderlette’s entire life her mother has (literally) treated her like human garbage until one day when she discovers she has a clumsy and unsophisticated Fairy Godmother who transports her to a far away land from another time. In this fairytale world, Princess Wonderlette finds the courage to confront her mother, the Evil Queen. Starring local drag phenoms Lady Bear, Hoku Mama Swamp, Suppositori Spelling, Raya Light, Precious Moments, and MORE.
THAT DARN BEAR (Matthew Gregory) – The sexual awakenings of a young man / cub are found in a Disney movie promoting overt bear sexuality.
