An image from Bruce LaBruce's "L.A. Zombie." via Indiewire. Here are some of this week's queer media headlines:
  • Kylie To Play Lesbian Rock Chick (MTV) "Jack and Diane, currently in production, is a romance/horror centred on two teenage girls, played by English actress Juno Temple and Riley Keough, granddaughter of none other than Elvis Presley."
  • Mickey Rourke to Play Gay Rugby Legend Gareth Thomas? (Towleroad) "A spokesman for Thomas’ management company told Wales on Sunday: 'Mickey Rourke is a big rugby fan and was flying to New York from London recently when he read an article about Gareth and thought he would be the perfect model for a film.'"
  • Italian distributor launches gay label (Variety) "Company's slate comprises recent works by known auteurs, such as Gus Van Sant, Michel Gondry and Mika Kaurismaki, which are part of their generalist slate, but also more esoteric fare like gay zombie pic "L.A. Zombie" by Canadian helmer/provocateur Bruce LaBruce, with which Atlantide is launching Queer Frame."
  • An Indie Hit's Sex Message (The Daily Beast)"There’s a scene early on in the new movie The Kids Are All Right when the lesbian couple played by Julianne Moore and Annette Bening decide to watch a porno movie. As the lights dim and they turn on their flat-screen TV, the action isn’t two luscious babes having sex. Rather, what they watch is two macho gay guys getting it on, on the hood of a car.  Confused? So are some who’ve seen the film."
