Out Actors Nominated for Emmys

July 08, 2010
Chris Colfer via TowleroadVia Towleroad:
Gay actors Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer were nominated for their supporting work on Glee, while out actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and gay-for-pay Eric Stonestreet were tipped for their supporting work as a gay couple on Modern Family. Neil Patrick Harris was again nominated for How I Met Your Mother. Colfer vs. Ferguson vs. Stonestreet vs. Harris? Tough call. (Jon Cryer for Two and a Half Men and Ty Burrell from Modern Family round out the supporting category for the men.)
There are several other nominations that involve LGBT themes, icons, or allies.  For example, as noted in Towleroad's comments, Mike O'Malley who plays Burt Hummel on Glee -- noted for his moving performance of a father's defense of and support for his gay son -- was also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, as was Kristen Chenoweth -- who recently defended her Promises, Promises co-star Sean Hayes in the whole Newsweek debacle.  Not to mention, Betty White!
